Prof. Benedict Oramah is President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank; a role held since September 2015. Joining Afreximbank as Chief Analyst in 1994, he was promoted to Senior Director of Planning and Business Development in 2007 and then to Executive Vice President for Business Development and Corporate Banking in 2008 where he supervised trade finance, project and export development finance, SSF and corporate finance and advisory services. Additionally, supervising research and knowledge management functions, he also assisted the then President of the Bank in strategic planning and international cooperation activities. His book ‘Foundations of Structured Trade Finance’ was recently published and he has written over 35 articles on African economic trade finance issues. He is a Member of the Emerging Markets Advisory Council of IIF; Executive Committee Member of FCI/ IFG; Consultative Board Member of the ICCO and a Fellow of the FICA. He serves on Editorial Boards of ‘Trade and Forfaiting Review’ and the ‘Journal of African Trade’.
